Position Summary Information | ||
Mandatory | Required:
Associate Degree in Computer Programming Technology or closely related program of study or two (2) minimum years of work experience within the last five (5) years as a programmer Demonstrated experience in programming languages within the last ten years. Possess the required training to be qualified to teach the Computer Programming curriculum Expertise in interpersonal and oral presentation/written communication skills Certifications: MTA Security Fundamentals and MTA Software Development. Applicants that do not currently possess these certifications will have to obtain them within 6 months of their hire date as well as attend the MCCB Institute for Teaching and Learning (or equivalent). |

Desirable | Bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline or demonstrated competencies in courses taught documented by the following: five years of documented work experience directly related to the courses taught and certificates, licensure or specialized training directly related to the courses taught.

Responsibilities | Teach assigned classes according to Board policies.
Issue to students a course syllabus. Keep classes in session for the full scheduled time and actively monitor students. Set aside sufficient time for lesson planning, student conferences, guidance, and tutorial assistance. Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and other reports. Work a minimum of 35 hours each week. Participate in the establishment, assessment, and review of Student Learning Outcomes and other measurements of student performance. Attend general faculty, division, and departmental meetings. Participate in student/teacher and faculty/administrator evaluations and performance review conferences. Develop a personal and professional improvement plan in those areas deemed necessary as a result of evaluations. Serve on committees as appointed. Cooperate in the execution of the college and division policies. Recommend budgetary items and submit appropriate documentation for ordering items to the appropriate office. Participate in the selection of textbook and library materials. Participate in staff development activities, professional associations, presentations, publications, applied educational research, consulting, evaluations, and similar activities which enhance the individual and the education profession. Use teaching techniques that include the effective utilization of resources that motivate students to achieve their potential. Assume responsibility for inventory, care, and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies. Present a personal appearance in keeping with contemporary community standards for a professional person. Maintain current credentials and certifications as required in respective field. Maintain excellent classroom management skills. Maintain student and program records. Have the ability to supervise students in a classroom setting, student organization activities and competitions. Have a willingness to participate in professional development workshops, conferences, and online classes/webinars. Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate authority. |
